Mika Nailz is embracing this year's World cup at South Africa and getting into the groove of things.

Once again every 4 years during this football craze, the female gender are often left puzzled and obligated to watch the game with boyfrens or husbands (because we are always so nice ;p).

With tribute to all women out there, Mika Nailz is diligently doing her research on ways to "engineer" the football spirit to our nail designs and into our beautiful babes. An interesting design caught my keen soccer eye, extracted from Wah Nails, anyone game enough to try?

I'm so glad the interview went well on Monday....A big sigh of relief. A big thank you to my frens who were there to render their support, I don' think I would have fared that well without you there. Luv you all! Furthermore, the reporter was so nice and really put me at ease.

I was quite happy that I got to share my views about nail services. Personally, I have always believe in taking a personalized approach toward my customers, both new and existing ones. It is a friendship that I have developed with them that can never be replaced. I always try to do my best to satisfy my customers. In addition, I try to make sure that they have an enjoyable time and leave with pretty pretty nails :) every time they visit my shop. I guess it is a way I find satisfaction in my work.

It has been a long while since I have updated my blog, sorry to keep everyone waiting. Well, here I am back, with a vengeance. hahaha... Sounds very fierce but I'm still the sweet and caring Kalie everyone knows me to be.

Have been caught up with the whole scheme of things as what most of my frens would term being entangled in life. Fortunately, life is looking bright and shiny for the future. In addition, I want to take this opportunity to share this great news with everyone, Frontline MediaCorp will be interviewing me at Mika Nailz on Monday 19th April. You are most welcome to come over to check it out, I have included the details below :) Please pass me some of your courage too. :p

How acrylic nails are usually applied?

Acrylic nails are created by combining a powdered acrylic product, called a polymer, with a liquid acrylic product, called a monomer using a brush made for acrylic nail applications.

Tips, if used are applied to the natural nails and buffed so the product can adhere to the nail.

The brush is then dipped into the acrylic liquid, then into the powder, forming a small ball at the end of the brush. The ball in then placed on the nail and spread to create a layer of acrylic.

1 or 2 more layers are applied. then the nail is shaped and buffed smooth.

Benefits of acrylic nails

Acrylics are considered the hardest and most durable of all artificial nail methods.

They are widely available and versatile. Hence,most salons actually offer this service and many specialize in Acrylic nail applications.

Which is actually great news for artificial nail lovers as it also means that there are a wide selection of nail salons to chose from and more creative acrylic nail designs.

Furthermore, nail polish lasts much longer on fake nails vs natural nails.

So when should I go for my infills
Acrylic nails need to be filled every 2-3 weeks depending on your natural nail growth.

It's best if you set up 2 or 3 appointments ahead of time. This will ensure that you do not let your acrylics overgrow which can result in lifting. (Lifting is when the acrylic nail leaves a small gap between your natural nail and the acrylic overlay)

Everyone likes clean, well-manicured and polished nails.
In fact, strong and healthy nails serve as the perfect representative of the overall health and fitness of a
person. Though most of the people are unaware of the
fact, nails too need to be taken well care of. Eating a
healthy diet is as important for your nails as for the
vital organs of your body. It is important to include certain vitamins, minerals and
other nutrients in your daily diet to ensure that your nails remain healthy and look
beautiful. At the same time, you need to make sure that you do not put undue stress
on them, by using them as tools for picking, plucking, and so on. To get some more tips for healthy nails, go through the following lines.

Tips For Healthy & Beautiful Nails

If your nails are too brittle and dry, you should increase the consumption of food that are rich in vitamin A (such as apricots, broccoli, carrot and cheese) and calcium (such as milk, yoghurt, cheese and almonds). However, do consult a doctor beforehand if you are allergic to the listed food.

Before you go off to sleep every night, wash your hands thoroughly and wipe them dry with a towel before applying a hand moisturizer. You can also rub a small amount of petroleum jelly into the cuticle and the skin surrounding your nails.

Whenever you are indulging in any kind of housework, be it whether you doing the dishes or scrubbing the bathroom, do wear hand gloves. This will prevent unnecessary chipping and save your nails from the harsh chemicals which may potentially harm your nails and hands.

Drink plenty of water and fresh fruit juices. It will help keep your body, and in turn your nails, well hydrated.

Carrot juice is rich in calcium and phosphorus and helps strengthen your nails. So, try to consume as much fresh carrot juice as possible .

Never ever use an acetone-based or formaldehyde-based nail-polish remover. Rather, stick to a remover that has acetate in it.

Do not file you nails just after you have had a shower or have washed your hands. This is because wet nails tend to break easily.

File your nails in one direction only. Do not move the filer in a back-and-forth motion, as it makes your nails brittle.

If you want to keep your nails strong and shiny, resort to nail buffing. It augments the blood supply to the nail, in turn stimulating its growth.

If you are suffering from the problem of hangnails, it is advisable to eat food rich in protein, vitamin C and folic acid.

Ensure that half of your diet is made up of fresh fruits and raw vegetables. This will supply your nails with the required vitamins, minerals and enzymes.

Supplementing your diet with spirulina and kelp will help make your nails strong and healthy.

Deficiency of vitamin B 12 can lead to dryness, rounded and curved ends and darkening of nails. So, make sure to include enough of the vitamin in your diet.
